My name is Filthy. A sabbatic goat femboy that grew up all over the west coast, But I say I'm from Lakewood, Washington for short. I moved to rural Cascadia around 2024 and I've been here ever since.
My earliest memories with music was around when I was five, I found a video on facebook of from what I can recall, a man singing on a looping beat. He would play his guitar, then add it to the loop. then his drums, then vocals. My five-year-old brain thought "Wow! I thought you needed to be in a band!"
On my ninth birthday I got my first DAW from my uncle. I think it was called MAGIX? I'm probably wrong. I ended up making no songs with it due to me trying to make Skrillex-copied dubstep which was white hot at the time (2012). Or maybe the fact that I was an entire austistic nine-year-old trying to make a beat.
These days I'm more of a "nomadic" furry and keep to myself from most of their social events. But I always had a fondness for the "animal people" for as long as I could remember. I grew up watching Robin Hood (1973), Sgt. Frog, Martha Speaks, Arthur, Lady And The Tramp, An American Tail. Something in my child-brain was fixated by them. The final straw was when My Little Pony Friendship is Magic was at its peak around 2013. Ten-year-old pubecent me in denial of being a brony still would watch fan video after fan video from the fandom. This and unsupervised access to the internet was a dangerous but adventurous combination.
The brony fandom is the gateway drug to the furry fandom. This is very true in my experience. I was enthralled by furries. Cute "animal people". When I was six I would pretend to be an animal, and now there's an entire group of people who do this? I remember feeling it was strange but it scratched an itch I couldn't get. Like why are they so satisfying to look at? What animal could I be?
My spiritual awakening~
What truly gave access to the fandom was me listening to Em Essex's album Wanderlust under her TQBF alias. I fell in love with Squeedgemonster's artstyle from most of Em's discography.
And thus, my love for the weird hot animal people was born!
Six years and some unsuccessful creative endeavors later, I first started performing in Hell! No. Not the biblical Hell because I'm a demonic being, by hell I mean Los Angeles, California. I lived there for a little over four years due to personal ex-family shit I would much rather not get into. I discovered harsh noise through Angel Marcloid's label Rainbow Bridge. around 2017. At first I thought "Why would anybody listen to this?" I said as I was listening to it. Not too long after it grew on me. Some are aggressive and crunchy. Others are softer but satisfyingly put together like a collage.
I ended up performing with someone from Rainbow Bridge, noise veteran Johnathan "Breakdancing Ronald Reagan" Cash. Probably the only time a musician I enjoyed lived nearby me by coincidence. Wow! This was how I learned how to book shows, performance, stage fright, hardware, and later on touring. (A tiny 2 day tour, but a tour.) Mostly performing in and around Los Angeles and then Seattle when I finally moved in with my long-distance partner.
